HEWA Teen Ball 2024: A Teen’s Eye View

The HEWA teen ball was an event my friends and I had been looking forward to for quite a few months before. We would talk about what fancy outfit we would be wearing and how excited we were. It was a super fun event to go to, and I definitely want to come again next time.

My mum was volunteering, so I came early with her, and I got to help with the setup before the ball officially started. I got to blow up balloons and put them on a garland which was fun. Before the ball I didn’t even know AQWA had a function room. There were tables set up for 160 people!

When we finally finished setting up, I went outside to line up with all the other teens. I got to meet up with my friends there and we got some photos together.

We spent a while walking around the aquarium, looking at all the cool aquatic animals, and generally hanging around and chilling with friends.

After a while we went to the function room and found our tables. I got to sit at the same table as one of my friends. After we went through the general announcements we started lining up for dinner, and let me tell you, the food was awesome. There was lots of different foods, like curry and some roast meat for example. There were also dinner rolls, which were delicious. I may have given myself a bit too much food😅.

So, after the food we sat around and chatted for a bit while they put away the food and transformed the area into a great area to dance around in. They had a DJ and we had a lot of fun dancing around and singing along to the songs. Being able to hear everyone scream sign along together to Taylor Swift songs was really cool. We all pulled out the Just Dance moves for Last Friday Night by Katy Perry. There were also a few conga lines.

If it was getting a bit too crazy for me, I could always walk out to the balcony and chill there and chat with friends. We also got the chance to get some professional photos (and some not so professional selfies😛) in front of a balloon garland.
