The graduation aims to give home-educated students a fun and exciting event to celebrate all of their hard work over the last few years with friends and family.

It provides an opportunity to meet other home schoolers who are also embarking on the journey into high school.

This event will be a fun dinner/disco for the year 6 graduating class of 2023.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ticket price?

The ticket prices is $65 each. Students and all adult attendee will need a ticket each. Current HEWA members will get a discounted ticket price of $60 each.

What is included in the ticket price?

The ticket price includes a four-hour event with buffet dinner, dessert, drinks, and lollies. It also includes a riverside venue with decorations and table centrepieces, get-to-know-you games, other fun activities, a disco, prizes, a photo space, and a certificate ceremony with personalised certificates. It also covers the costs of ‘less exciting’ but necessary expenses such as insurance.

What should my child wear?

The theme of the event is formal and fancy so kids can go for broke in terms how special they want to dress. The aim however is for children to have fun, so they can wear whatever they feel comfortable in, whether this be sequins and sparkles, a fancy suit, a super hero costume or their favourite t-shirt.

What if we have dietary requirements?

The catering will cover standard options. If you have additional dietary needs (i.e., allergies) please indicate this on the form when you book your tickets. We will do our best to accommodate, and will work with you on this.

What if any of the attendees have access or inclusion needs?

The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet. It is located in Tompkins Park and kids (or adults) who need a bit of a breather can step outside to lovely grounds and views for some quiet. We want this event to be fun and inclusive for all those who attend, so if you have any access and inclusion needs that you think we need to be aware of, please let us know when you book in and we will be in contact.

Can my child or our family sit with friends?

We want all children and a families who attend to have fun and feel comfortable. When you book a ticket, you can nominate other attendees that you or your child would ideally like to share a table with. Please list their full name so we can try to match them up. Not all preferences may be able to be accommodated, however we will try to ensure that every attendee is seated with at least one person that they nominated. There will also be plenty of opportunities throughout the evening for everyone to mingle on the dance floor and through fun games and activities.

In the past, some children have wanted to sit at tables with children, and some with their families. Please indicate which your child prefers and we will do our best to accommodate.

Do parents need to attend?

This is not a drop and leave event. All children need to have an adult that is responsible for them. If you are booking a ticket for just your child, then you need to have arrangements in place with another adult (not an organiser) who is responsible for your child at this event.

My child is in year 7 and missed out on an event last year, can they attend?

Yes. We understand that some current year 7s may not have been able to attend the graduation event last year, as such, they are welcome to attend this years event.

Can siblings/cousins/grandparents attend?

This is a special event with the focus on the graduating student. If they have an older sibling, that takes on a caring/supportive role for them, then yes you can book a ticket for them as an ‘adult’ family member. Grandparents and other guardians are also welcome to attend as an “adult” family member. We are unable to accommodate younger siblings/cousins etc.

What if our family can’t attend or we get sick/COVID and have to isolate?

Once you book a ticket this is not refundable (unless the event is cancelled). If you want to pass your ticket on to someone else, we will try and accommodate this, however it must be arranged with the organisers ahead of time so that we can ensure the person attending in your place meets the criteria for attendance and understands the event and to allow time for printing of certificates etc.

Why is there a booking fee?

We are passing on the booking fee so that we are able to use the full cost of the ticket for all fun things we have planned for the event. We are using the Humanitix platform as this is a not-for-profit organisations and the booking fees support charities.
